Youth & Family Engagement
Engaging the Next Generation
Using Irish culture and arts, our Youth and Family Engagement Program (YFEP) works with the youngest members of our community and their families
If you have questions about our youth and family programs or would like to get involved, please contact Kathleen Howlett at khowlett@irishchicago.org or call 773-282-8445.
Community Playgroup
Playgroup meets weekly on Wednesday mornings to offer toddlers and their caregivers an opportunity to gather in a warm community setting to play, learn and grow.
Since March 2020, our in person community playgroup meetings have been suspended. During these times of separation, our playgroup has taken the form of story time, arts, and craft videos that can be found on our YouTube Page.
Inter-generational Programs
Our Inter-generational activities bring together the older and younger members of our community to the benefits of both groups.
Since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, ICS is keeping our younger and older generations connected through an inter-generational podcast titled The Irish Memory Box. You can listen to the Irish Memory Box podcast by clicking here.
Fáilte Adapted Classes
Fáilte (meaning 'welcome' in the Irish) provides fun, interactive cultural classes for our youth with intellectual disabilities including dance, crafts, and folklore.
Our in person Fáilte classes have been suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This program has been transitioned into week long Spring and Summer Camps being held via Zoom. To inquire about future Fáilte class dates or events, please contact Kathleen at grace@irishchicago.org or call 773-282-8445.
